Georgia Military Veterans’ Hall of Fame

Certificate of Honor

Once a Veteran is nominated to the Georgia Military Veterans’ Hall of Fame (GMVHOF), the Veteran Nominee is eligible to be presented with the GMVHOF Certificate of Honor (CoH). Receiving the CoH does not mean that the Nominee is inducted into the GMVHOF but rather, it means that the Nominee  was deemed worthy of consideration for entrance into GMVHOF.

The purpose of the presentation of the CoH is to ensure that the Nominee, while living, will know that he / she was nominated to this rare and noble hall of fame and, thus, can be rightfully honored. For the family and friends of a Killed-In-Action (KIA) or deceased Nominee, the CoH provides a way of sincere acknowledgement of the service and sacrifice of the Nominee.

The CoH is not automatically provided by the GMVHOF to the Nominee. In order to receive the CoH, a request must be made to the GMVHOF Director (Colonel {Ret} Rick White / Rick White4750@gmail.com / C: 678-427-0915). After a request has been made, the CoH may be mailed to the Nominee or presented in public at any time to a Nominee or the next-of-kin for a KIA / deceased Nominee. The request may be made by the Nominee, or the family / friends of the Nominee, or by the Nominator.

If a presentation ceremony is desired and requested, it can be at a time and location of the Nominee’s or the family / friends / Nominator’s choosing. The CoH presentation may be conducted by anyone the Nominee or the persons requesting the presentation desires. Examples: GMVHOF Official Presenter or another Veteran.

Previously, public presentations have been conducted at family reunions, family gatherings, birthday parties, church services, Veteran Service Organization meetings, etc. for living Nominees, or during graveside / funerals services for deceased Nominees.

The presentation of the CoH  does not preclude the Nominee from being subsequently inducted into the GMVHOF. The presentation of the CoH  greatly adds to the legacy of the Veteran and his / her family.
