Georgia Military Veterans’ Hall of Fame
Certificate of Honor
Once a Veteran is nominated to the Georgia Military Veterans’ Hall of Fame (GMVHOF), he / she is then eligible to be presented with the GMVHOF Certificate of Honor (CoH). Receiving the CoH does not mean that the Nominee is inducted into the GMVHOF but rather, it means that he / she was deemed worthy of consideration for entrance into GMVHOF. The purpose of the presentation of the CoH is to ensure that the Nominee, while living, will know that he / she was nominated to this rare and noble Hall of Fame and to be rightfully honored in the meantime.
The CoH may be mailed to or presented at any time to a Nominee or their next-of-kin for deceased Nominees after a GMVHOF Nomination Packet has been received and found to be complete. The Nominator, the family of the Nominee or the Nominee himself / herself may request this honor for the Nominee.
If a presentation ceremony is desired and requested, it can be at a time and location of the ’s choosing. The GMVHOF Official Presenter may conduct this presentation in dress uniform to provide visual respect and honor for the Nominee or in appropriate civilian clothing (suit & tie), whichever is desired. Previously, presentations have been conducted at family reunions, family gatherings, birthday parties, church services, Veteran Service Organization meetings, etc. for living Nominees, or graveside / funerals services for deceased Nominees.
The presentation of the CoH does not preclude the Nominee from being subsequently inducted into the GMVHOF. The presentation of the CoH greatly adds to the legacy of the Veteran and his / her family.
