GMVHOF

The Georgia Military Veterans Hall of Fame (GMVHOF) is a nonprofit, 501(c) (3) corporation (IRS ID Number: 46-2025738) with the dual purpose of honoring Georgia veterans and educating young people as to who are our real heroes. The GMVHOF is also registered with the Office of the Georgia Secretary of State (ID# 13400168).

On 22 March 2013, the Georgia State Senate introduced and passed a proclamation which formally established the GMVHOF. The GMVHOF Board of Directors (BOD) currently consists of nine members, all Georgia military veterans or spouse. These nine each donated $1,000 of seed money to begin the very expensive but worthy process of establishing this rare and noble Hall of Fame for our state. In accordance with the bylaws, a BOD member is not eligible for induction in order to eliminate any appearance of conflict of interest. A BOD member who is a military veteran may be nominated to the GMVHOF once he or she has been off the BOD for a minimum of three years.

The goal of the GMVHOF is to annually induct up to fifteen Georgia military veterans at an induction ceremony and banquet in their honor each November. At the ceremony, each inductee (or if deceased, a family member), will be presented with an engraved medallion plus other appropriate accoutrements, documentation, and official photograph. The inductees will be selected by an Independent Selection Committee, not by the BOD.
The GMVHOF awards $3000 scholarships to deserving JROTC cadets annually using a Board-driven screening process based on merit.
